On-device · Screenshots are never uploaded

Keep secrets out of
your screenshots.

Passwords, card numbers, phone numbers, API keys: Redact Guard blacks them out of your screenshots and copied images automatically, before you share. Nothing leaves your Mac.

Version 1.0.2 · macOS 15 Sequoia or later · Works offline · 14-day free trial · One-time purchase

How it works

Nothing new to learn.

Redact Guard sits in the menu bar and quietly checks every capture. You just keep working.

  1. 1

    Take screenshots as usual

⇧⌘4, ⌃⇧⌘4, the Screenshot app or a copy from any app. Nothing to learn, nothing to remember.

  2. 2

    Secrets are blacked out

Text recognition reads the image right on your Mac, with nothing uploaded, and covers API keys, tokens and passwords in a fraction of a second.

  3. 3

    Paste the safe version

The file and your clipboard hold the clean copy. Slack, GitHub and ChatGPT only ever see the covered image.

In action

Out of your way, one click away.

Protection lives in the menu bar. When you want to look back or change something, it's right there.

A glance at the menu bar shows what is protected, the latest catch and your week. Undo or copy the clean image in one click.

Features

Covers every way a secret slips out.

Files, the clipboard and the images you already have. Checked the moment they appear, right on your Mac.

Your screenshot folder, Downloads and any folder you choose. The file itself is replaced with the clean copy, or saved next to it.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Blur really safe?

Yes. Every style fills the area first, so the secret's pixels are gone. Blur and Mosaic are then drawn from made-up text, never from the secret, so there is nothing to un-blur.

Does anything leave my Mac?

No. Text recognition runs on-device and screenshots are never uploaded. Redact Guard only connects to the internet to check for updates (at most once a day, or when you ask) and once to activate your license.

Where are the originals kept?

In the Journal on your Mac, so you can undo a redaction. They are deleted after 24 hours by default (you can pick 1 hour to 30 days). Screenshots with nothing sensitive are never stored.

What if it covers something I need, or misses something?

Uncover any single finding in the Journal with one click. Select text in a preview to add "Always black out things like this" or "Never black out this" rules, written in plain words, no regular expressions needed.

What happens when the trial ends?

The trial lasts 14 days with every feature. Enter a license to keep going; your settings and Journal stay exactly as they are.

How many Macs can I use it on?

One license works on 2 Macs that you personally use, for example your work and home Mac. Moving to a new Mac? Deactivate the old one in Settings > License first. If that Mac is gone, email us and we'll free it.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If Redact Guard is not right for you, write within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.

Share screenshots without a second thought.

Private by design: everything runs on your Mac, and your screenshots stay there.
